Jess's Quilt Project

Jess and Alex just had their 1 year anniversary (I know, I know).... anyway, she decided that she wanted to make him a hunting quilt for her present. He and his dad are huge bird hunters. So, she and I sat down and did some research on quilting patterns, took a few of the ideas we found, perused the fabric selection and then came up with a plan of our own.

Jess has never sewn anything in her life, so this was a huge undertaking. She had a lot of frustrating moments, tears, and yes even a little blood spilled. But, after 4 months, she finally finished, and it turned out AMAZING! The front is made out of fleece, the backing is a faux sheep wool and it has the thickest batting we could find. I think the thing weighs at least 10 pounds. Alex won't be getting cold in that thing for sure.

What a beautiful girl! She is getting so grown up I can hardly believe it. I can't tell you how many times lately I have looked at her, her mannerisms and looks that she gets on her face some times, and I feel like I'm looking into a mirror. She is so much like me it's scary.

My 40th Birthday Party

I was waiting for the pictures from Alison to blog my amazing night, and what an amazing night it was!!!! I had a lot of friends there to support me, and everyone in the band played perfect. Finally, all of my hard work payed off and I got to showcase it. It was truly magical! I see now why Aaron loves to perform so much. Ya... pretty much hooked. At least it's something that the two of us can do together, which makes it twice as fun!

Next? Drum lessons and learning more songs. Then we can see if we might be able to go somewhere with this.

Doin' the Puyallup for my 40th

Happy Birthday to me!! Wow, a new decade to explore. Should be fun I think. What does 40 feel like? Remarkably like 39 :o).

Today was $2 at the fair. All rides only $2, so that's what we decided to spend the day doing. It was actually a really fun day and I'm really glad we all got to go. Even my prodigal's son came with us. Brett left us for 6 months, but now he is back, and we are enjoying having him around again! We were even blessed with great weather. Family, Rides, Strawberry Funnel Cake, Scones and Sun.... who could ask for a better birthday?

Jupiter and it's Moons

Okay, a little back story here. Last night was not a good night for sleep. At about 1:30 a.m. Aaron woke me up freaking out in his sleep - bad dream about ghosts. By the time I got him woke up and settled back down it was about 15 minutes later. Also to note, we have been sleeping with the fan on lately for white noise because it helps Aaron sleep better, except when ghosts are attacking apparently.

We were just drifting back to sleep when the fan clicked off and startled us - again! Ugh! So we got up to see if it was the whole neighborhood, and it was. So, lets make a long story short. While up Aaron saw that Jupiter was out in all her glory so got the telescope for a closer view. Heck, the neighborhood was extremely dark and we weren't sleeping anyway.

It's not the best picture in the word, it WAS 2:00 in the morning and the planet was moving surprisingly fast, but I got this to share. Jupiter and her three moons.

We don't use the telescope a ton, but it is sure amazing to have when you want it! We have seen some great things!

Songwriting For Dummies

Aaron has been working on a songwriting blog now for a couple of years called "The Song Garage". He has gotten quite a following over that time and loves writing for it. Apparently, a bigger following than he originally thought. He was contacted by the "Songwriting for Dummies" writers and asked if they could use some of his material in the latest edition. Heck yes! They might use an entire article in the next addition...... Way to go Aaron!
