Aaron Really Needs a Haircut

Rock n' Roll 1/2 Marathon

We finally ran the 1/2 marathon that we have been working toward for the last two months. It was fun and I'm really glad that I did it, but I'll have to think hard before I do another on. I have a feeling though it's like having a baby - after time you forget how painful it was and do it again. A marathon though, NO WAY!

Taken before the race. We are still oblivious, happy and have nice fresh legs. It was a beautiful morning and we were excited about that.

It was a good thing that we didn't have to use the porta's before the race started the lines were super long. Alison and Aaron are such posers.

25,000 people ran this race. Quite amazing. They said that it was the third largest inaugural race in the United States. There were people from all over the world running. Three of the six winners were from Kenya, of course. I was trying to capture the amount of people involved, but pictures just don't do it justice.

Just one of the many bands on the route of the race. There was a band every mile and every half mile they had cheerleaders from the local High Schools. There was a lot of support and cheering for the runners. It was great!

We ran for a little over two hours, and the crowds just never really thinned out because there were so many people. That's okay though because we had lots of people to pass along the way to make us feel like champions.

The race route took you up over Skyway and dropped down at Seward Park. It was really nice to drop down and see the lake. Very pretty.

We also ran through the I-90 tunnel into downtown Seattle.

After the race. Tired, a little sore and drenched in sweat, but very happy and feeling a sense of accomplishment. The last mile was really super hard, but we trudged along and finished. We were so glad to be done at that point.

Chillin' at the end with water, Gatorade, bagels and a great band. It was so fun to sit and relax after really hard work and listen to a fun band. If I ever loose my sanity to do this again it will definitely be a Rock 'n 'Roll Marathon. They are way super fun, and it was fun to do it with the Jensen's!

First Hike Of The Year

Ya! We did our first hike of the year yesterday. The weather here has been so amazing - cloudy sometimes, but very dry. We originally were going to try a new hike, but the road was closed due to weather damage this winter, so we just did the old stand by Rattlesnake Ridge. There are too many people and we have done this hike a thousand times but we still enjoyed being together and outside!

Little Hurricane

Is the name of Aaron's new band. That's right, he got into a band playing, not guitar, but bass. It's a classic rock band, and I think he's going to have a blast. And the best part Amy, his first gig is Saturday July 11th! We can go!! Yay!
