Chrome Molly at Benders

Benders is a regular haunt of Chrome Molly - they pretty much have a standing, once a month gig here. It's not my most favorite place ever, but it's nicer than some others. The best part about it is it's really close to our house so we can usually be home by about 2:00, instead of 2:30 or later.

I am  having SO much fun watching Aaron come into himself on stage. He is having so much fun and it really shows and makes it super fun to watch him. Many people have come up to me and commented on how much energy he brings to the band: he really ROCKS!

Here I Go!

I got my box of goodies the other night - a big ol' fatty box of intimidating looking books that I have about three months to study. Well, at least we are starting easy..... Human Anatomy. I guess it can't go much else but down hill from there, right? 

I hope I do well at this. It has been a really long time since I have been a student, but I am excited about it. I'm a little nervous about the big exam at the end, and hope that I'm smart enough to pass with flying colors, but only time will tell.

Here I go! The first step to my new career.

Chrome Molly at Pickled Onion

It was a free-bee tonight for Chrome Molly, but it's all part of being a rock start I guess. A good friend of "the bands" was having a birthday party and asked if Chrome Molly would play for an hour or so. We are getting to know everyone slowly, and Glen (the birthday boy) is a really nice guys. When you start getting into the local music scene it seems like everyone knows everyone else, and this person plays for that person, or does favors for another - it's like a big, fat, happy musical family...... I like it ;o)

I've Just Taken The Second Step

Two weekends ago Aaron and I sat through a First Aid/CPR/AED class to become certified: that is a pre-rec to becoming certified as a personal trainer. I just took my second step today, and for some reason the step that was harder than I was expecting it to be. I ordered my class materials today and should receive them in about a week. I will then be an official student again. I am excited and a little nervous all at the same time.... a whole new territory to explore!

Girls "Weekend"

Jess and I had a fun "weekend" hanging out with grandma before Jess heads back off for school on Monday. Originally we thought about going somewhere, but we couldn't really decide on a place and every time we looked at prices it just seemed too expensive: so we had a slumber party at grandma's.... it's been a LONG time since I had a slumber party ;o)

We just kind of went where the wind took us and got a lot of things crammed into our little two day adventure. We went to Rebar Ranch and played with all the baby birds... and we all know how much of a crazy bird lady my mom is ;o) The geese were gone, but they still had a bunch of chicks and ducklings and that was enough to make mom happy.

The evening was spent cooking dinner together, playing games and watching a movie. Oh ya, and we spent over an hour going through all of mom's jewelry. She was showing us her antique things, giving us a bunch of stuff she didn't want any more and telling us who was to inherit what some day. You know, we just did a bunch of girl stuff.

After I got back from a super long run on the river trail by mom's house, I made everyone a strawberry pancake breakfast and then we went..... shopping - that other girl activity.

We wen to the furniture store and mom really wanted to take us to a jewelry store near her house that she loves (as if we didn't already get enough looking at jewelry ;o) Jess was thinking this little recliner would fit nicely into her apartment next year - lol!!

We had a lot of fun together! It's too bad one doesn't have a lot of time and money on their hands to play all of the time. We'll have to do it again this summer while Jess is home for a longer period of time. Maybe then we'll actually go somewhere.

St. Patrick's Day Party

Chrome Molly had a GREAT gig for St. Patrick's Day - a really huge crowd and we had a lot of friends there: the band was playing great and I got a lot of amazing dancing in.... dancing is so fun, and a really good workout!!! Funk Bucket even played three songs in between Chrome Molly's sets. Good times.

 

Peaceful Morning

I know that I have been complaining about the cold a lot lately, but I have to admit that I am enjoying the snow this morning. Aaron is off at work, both kids are home but in bed still, and I am sitting in my wonderful office - in front of the big windows - sipping on tea and watching the snow come down.

Aaron had a really rough night sleeping last night, therefore I didn't get much sleep either: with a headache and ovarian pains this morning I can't think of a better way to pass the time than this. Snow is cold, but it is so quiet and peaceful that it is making me feel quite content.

Thank you mother nature for this relaxing moment.

John Carter of Mars

Aaron has been geeking out over this movie ever since he heard they were thinking about making it into a movie several years ago. He has been patiently watching and waiting all this time. Edgar Rice Burroughs is to Aaron like J.K. Rowling is to kids today. He grew up on those books and has read them many times, so to finally have one of his favorites hit the big screen was amazing for him.

After our long day of classes, we came home and had a great time with the kids going out to dinner and then finally to the John Carter movie.... complete with a Large Soda for each of us ;o)

As usual, the books are better, and they took a lot of liberties with the plot, but it was still a great time!

CPR Certified

Aaron and I spent the day in class getting cpr/first aid certified. It's been a long time since I have gone through this process, so it was really good to be doing it again: a lot has changed since I have last done it.

With this complete I am now ready to embark on my Personal Training education. It should take me about a year to get to where I want to be, so some time in 2013 I will be looking for a job for the first time in 23 years.... wow!! Seems kind of weird, but I am super looking forward to the new challenge.

Running In The Snow
