After the party was over, Aaron and I just moved it to another location. No one came with us, so I guess their loss, because we had a BLAST!! It was so fun, and we worked off a lot of our Halloween treats by dancing the night away.

This pic just gives you an idea of how packed this place was. Yup! I played a song with Aaron in front of all these people! It was amazing! I was super nervous, and had my heart up in my nose, but once I got behind the kit it all went away and it was just FUN!

Halloween Party

Party Time! Jess and I spent two entire days getting ready for our party. Making decorations and decorating with them and cooking up a ton of ghoulish treats. I think I had just as much fun getting ready for it with her as I did the party itself. We had a great time.

SOME OF THE DECORATIONS

Here is what we finally did with Fester and his coffin that I made last week. "Rotten corpse with entrails salsa". I think this was one of my favorite creations this year. That and the drink bottles that I made (down below). I didn't get a picture of him with his Salsa, and I didn't get any of the creative foods that we made and that everyone brought. By the time the food came out I was in full party mode and forgot about it.

Okay, this idea was great in theory, but didn't turn out so well. First - DON'T USE PLASTIC GLASSES ;o), and second, for some reason the candy stayed kind of sticky, but it still looked awesome and was a cool effect sitting on the table.

Following are all the bottles that I made. I think this was my favorite addition this year. I found a bunch of old drinking containers at the thrift store and then made labels for them. I filled a couple with glow in the dark drinks, made some orange ooze and also some dragons blood.

Carvin' Pumpkins

Can't really have Halloween without a few Jack-o-lanterns around the house. Not my most favorite activity, but I like to have the final project, and when you have a team working on it, it goes pretty fast.

Jess and I thought it would be cute to have a lot of these little sugar pumpkins around the house at the party as votive cups for tea-lights. They turned out super cute, and are WAY easier to carve than the big ol' pumpkins.

Fester

I'm busy getting ready for the Halloween Party, and have found some great ideas for decorations and recipes. One thing I found I needed a coffin and skeleton for. The skeleton was easy. We found Fester (that's what we named him) at good ol' Party City, but the coffin was a little more tricky to find. Problem? Not for me. I just made one with stuff I had around the house.

Here is my final coffin. Rather good if I do say so myself. The best thing is it's 100% recycled. Just stuff I had laying around the house. You will have to wait until after the party to see what I am going to do with it, but it's gonna be good. I'll just say that food will be involved.

Jessi Homecoming

*Sigh* Here we go with all of Jess's Senior things. Her last Homecoming was tonight. She was amazingly beautiful! It is kind of scaring me lately, with her getting so grown up, how much she reminds me of me.

This was one of the dresses we got from Teresa when she was doing her storage unit adventure (remember "27 dresses"?) We did quite a bit of modifying of the dress, but it turned out very beautiful and elegant. Thanks Teresa!!!

Bathroom No. 2 Cupboards

I decided to do both bathrooms at the same time to keep continuity in the home design and to save a little money. So, since I had the stuff to re-stain the cupboards I got started on those. The kids' bathroom cupboards have been totally jacked since we moved in here 9 years ago, so it was a great time to fix that finally too. It's amazing how much difference it makes just to redo the cupboards. So much cleaner! Love it.

October has actually been a somewhat decent month. Especially considering the crappy summer we are coming off of. It was somewhat cold Sunday, but sunny, so Aaron and I decided to get one last hike in this year. It was a terrible year for hiking due to bad weather, so we jumped at the chance to get another one in.

The peak in the distance in this picture is Silver Peak. It's one of our favorite hikes to do... we didn't get to do it this year, but we at least got to see the peak from a different angle.
