I Love Fall!

I love the colors, the smells, the crisp sunny mornings - I just love everything about fall! And the weather lately, for October, has just been amazing! We have had a ton of sunshine, and the temperature has been averaging around 60 degrees in the afternoon.

I have been doing a lot of computer work this morning, and this is the view that I have been looking at all morning. Fall leaves with sunshine. LOVE IT!

This Weeks Soccer

Not a good game for Jess this week. Part of the girls on the other team were on Jess's team last year and decided to form their own team. So there was a kind of vendetta attitude with that team. Why? Who knows! But the game was extremely, unnecessarily mean and rough. Jess took a ball right in the face, and is suffering quite a bit tonight. Hopefully she will not wake up to a black eye!! At least she already had Homecoming :o). She also got kicked pretty good in the knee, and it's already bruising and slightly swollen. I guess our girls can feel slightly good in the fact that they won!

Final score: 1-0

Yes, they still do team photos, even at this age. I never pay for them though! I just stand back and take my own photo. A little snap shot is good enough for us.

Homecoming

Yes, Jess did go to the dance! She went with long time friend, Ian Buckles. What a great kid. I have to say that she was just so absolutely gorgeous that night! Her hair was awesome, her dress was beautiful, just a touch of make up - she makes up real nice. I'll have her tell about her date.

Okay, so when Ian asked me out he said we were going out to dinner somewhere, then we would go to the dance, and then go out and do something else. So i knew nothing. It was way fun though. So after he picked me up and i tried hopelessly to put the boutonniere and finally my mom saved me and put it on for me, we were off. Guys have it so much easier, they just have to slid the corsage on the wrist and that's it.

Anyways after we left--his parents were driving because he hasn't reached his six months yet--they drove into Jack-in-the-box. I was just like, yay fast food. But they were just playing around and we really went to Claim Jumpers. Being me I got something I knew I would like, pizza. While we were waiting for our food we played football with the sugar packet. I won. Also i got my food before Ian and so the waiter said he would go slap the chef and get his food.

After we left the restaurant, we had about half and hour to kill before the dance started, and we didn't want to show up early. So i got a tour of where his family used to live. And that included all the baseball fields he used to play on. It was pretty funny actually because his whole family (minus his brother who was at a friends house) where laughing really hard because of old memories. Then when they told me about them, i would join in the laughter.

Now the dance. Ian and i actually never had the chance to really dance, because all they played were rap songs. So mostly we just stood around talking, trying to find people we knew. Ian made fun of me cause about every minute someone said hi to me and it actually made it really hard to talk cause they would usually stop and hang out for a few minutes so our conversations were always getting interrupted. But i guess that's what happens when one is popular. I wish, but not really cause i don't think i would make a very good popular person. I'm just popular among the unpopular.

At 11 we left the dance and went down to Kent Station. Our plan was to see Eagle Eye, but it started at 10:40 and we didn't want to walk in late, so instead we went to see High School Musical 3 so we could make fun of all cheesy lines and dance moves. When we walked in though it was really funny because we saw one of our old friends from elementary school so we hung out with him. Then after the movie was done--don't see it, it's really bad--we headed back home. When i finally got home and took my hair down and what not, it was 2 in the morning.

Over all it was way fun and I'm really glad i went. I think Ian had a good time too, but i don't want to speak for him.

Kentridge vs Kent Meridian

This is Homecoming weekend. We have gone to the game the last three years, and this year decided to make it a little more fun. We met the Jensen's for a tailgate party complete with good ol' Little Caesars. It was fun hanging out. We always love spending time with the Jensen's, they're a blast to be with!

The game itself was just okay. I don't know how other school football games are, but ours are divided into sections. The High School kids in one, parents and other people in one, and then the Middle School Mosh Pit. Ugh! Obnoxious!!!That is where we ended up sitting so we were surrounded by a bunch of little punk middle school kids that thought they were amazing. Oh well.

We didn't win, but the last quarter was intense. We only lost by 3 points. All in all, I'm just not a big football fan. Couple that with the brats and the cold, it was just Okay.

illuminate. I always wondered when I was running in the dark.)

Aaron Got New Glasses!

After 10 years wearing the same glasses, we figured it was time for Aaron to have a new look. These are probably the most "fashionable" glasses he has ever had. That is probably a good thing, because it will force him to buy some new ones before 10 years!!! New glasses, on his way to new teeth, and new clothes - he's going to be a whole new man soon. Hubba hubba.

This Weeks Soccer

This is pretty much how Jess spent most of her soccer game. She played in the net the first half, and about 1/3 of the second half. FINALLY they pulled her out for the last part of the game and she got to play. She was dangerously close to making 2 goals - Dang. Maybe next time.

Final score: 2 - 0! Yeah, we finally won a game.

1. I still have the very first thing I ever spent my own money on: an orange tackle-box I got for two dollars when I was about 4 or 5 years old. These days I use it as my guitar tool box.

5 Surprising things about me

1. Even though I am afraid of heights, and even more afraid of jumping off them (I think I really just have an irrational fear of falling) I want to try skydiving some day. I used to watch my dad do it growing up, and is just something I would like to force myself to do some day.

2. I LOVE to smell of horses! My dad was obsessed with horses, and we had some when I was young. I was riding solo by the time I was three years old, and have some fond memories of going out riding with him. Whenever I smell a horse, especially if it's saddled, it brings back a flood of memories. I would love to have enough land some day to be able to have a horse again.

3. I have a scar on the top of my head from when I cut my scull open at age three. Many times I catch myself absent minded rubbing it. Psycho!

4. I have always wanted a house with a front porch and porch swing. The thought of just sitting on the front porch being lazy on my swing appeals to me. Maybe some day.

5. I have thought many times that I would love to be a foster mom. There are so many kids out there being mistreated every day. I would love to just gather them all up and give them the love they deserve!! It breaks my heart, and if I could just change the life of one or two kids it would be worth it.

This Weeks Soccer Game

I think Jess has just about had it actually. I am going to email the coach tomorrow, because quite frankly so have we. You would not believe the amount of belittling and trash talk that is going on with two of the girls on the team. The whole reason Jess likes to play rec. ball is because it's suppose to be much more layed back and fun. But these two girls are so bad it makes it miserable for everyone. Unfortunately one of the girls is the coaches daughter. We'll see if anything comes of the email, but I am going to tell her if things don't change, Jess just may quite, and with our blessing. At least she got to play on the field for half the game!!

Final Score: 0-2

Ever Eaten a Pomegranate?

Every once in a while I get a hankering to eat a pomegranate. They are a pain in the butt to eat, and usually after I eat one, it reminds me why I never do. Aaron and Jess have never had one before and I just had to get pictures. Aaron was SO funny!!!! Eating each little tiny seed, one at a time, and then spitting the seed out after all the "juice" was off of it. We were laughing pretty hard. But, I guess that's Aaron for you!

We Love No School Days!!

Friday was Teacher Workshop day around here so Jess had the day off from school. We just love it when we get a day together. And, since Jeff didn't have to be to work until 4:30 that afternoon, he came out and spent the day with us too.

We went out to lunch to Red Robin because that is my favorite place to eat and I have been wanting to go there for about two months now. It was fun just sitting there pigging out on french fries and talking. The we went Halloween Costume shopping. We have a big party that we are putting on with some friends on Halloween, costumes mandatory. It's a music theme, so it will be a blast. Look for our awesome costume pictures after Halloween :o)!

We had a lot of fun today. The only thing that would have made it more fun (for me anyway) would have been if Aaron could have come! But Jess and I watched a scary movie with him later that night, so that was fun at least. We watched "The Orphanage". Way good!!! We are going to watch it again tonight with Jeff when he gets home from work since he didn't get to see it.

Photo Shoot

Part of vamping up my business is including getting brochures, promo posters and the like made up for when I am doing community events. I needed some good, profession pictures that we could use for those. (Thank goodness I'm sleeping with a really talented Graphic Designer!!!).....Anyway, Alison came over and took some pictures for that. I was pleasantly pleased with how well they came out considering what she had to work with :o)! Here are just a few of my very favorite ones.

Tough Game

Jess's game today was really tough!! Her team is really weak this year as it is, and they only had 10 girls show up to play this week.They were down one girl on the field (11 is how many there should be) and that also left them with no subs. The other team had 4 subs, which also meant a full team out on the field. Most of the girls on the team aren't great, and probably half of them are just not in shape enough to handle playing 90 minutes of soccer. They held up pretty well the first half, but were just dropping in the second.

Once again, Jess was amazing. I'm not just saying that because I'm her mom either. Everyone on the team knows if it weren't for her, they would be getting totally annihilated every week. She had so many amazing saves it was incredible to watch!! She was feeling bad that she let her team loose by so much, but if you consider how many saves she had (once again) to how many got past her, the odds were definitely in her favor. Plus, like I told her, she is NOT the only person on the team.

I didn't get any pictures because I was not feeling well this morning and just forgot the camera. Oh well, there will be some next week :o)
