Well, that's it. She is packed, loaded and gone. That is all. It will be weird not having her around all of the time and will be missed!

 

Mom's Last Night With Us

Mom's last night here in Seattle with us..... seems weird! We all got together and pigged out on nachos and soda and then headed out to watch Aaron play for a while. It was really fun hanging out, and Kristina got up and danced with me. I LOVE dancing, so I always love it when I can find a partner.

Jess's New Look

I see it time and time again. Girls get ready to graduate from HS and move onto College and want a new look. Well, Jess was no exception. So, here is her new look. It took  us a few to get used to it, but she looks super cute!

My Spring Poinsettia

About a year or so ago I decided to try my hand at house plants. Mostly I did this for the environmental advantages of having healthier, purified air in the home: plus, they have done studies on how effective house plants are at keeping your home more relaxed and stress free. Win-win in my book.... except I have never been good with plants. 

I am not the one to talk to them, rub their little leaves and tell them how beautiful they are: heck, they are lucky if they even get watered. I will look at the poor droopy thing and realize it's been three weeks since they have had a drop of water touch their soil. It's like they have to start looking pathetic to get any attention from me. This time, however, I was determined.

I am happy to say that it has been over a year now and all my plants are still alive (I bought about 5 of them to start). Not only are they all still alive, but they are growing leaps and bounds. I was even lucky enough to have a poinsettia stay alive clear back from two Christmas's ago! It is still alive and kicking. And, look at what I've got!!!! Not only is my poinsettia of 18 months still alive, it's blooming - in Spring. Maybe my brown thumb has finally turned green.

Central Open House

After staying up late last night for Aaron, we all got to get up super early this morning to be to Central University at 8:00 a.m. Jess, and her friend Kaylee who she is going to be going to school with, had their open house today.

 

They all were pretty sacked out in the back for half the ride there. (of course, Alex came with us ;o). We debated on using Kaylee's open yapper as basket practice, but we didn't have any M&M's to throw or anything.

Apparently, the email said to be there at 8:00, but things really didn't get started until 10:00. Man, we could have gotten another hour or two of sleep! Oh well. We were getting bored, so we just went and sat out in the sun - something we don't get a lot of on this side of the mountains.

I don't really feel like it was worth 5 hours of sleep and an hour and half drive to get there for this "open house", but the girls did get to look in the dorms and get a little tour, so I guess that at least made it worth it... and we did get a few little bit's of information we didn't already know. At least it was a sunny afternoon together.

Chrome Molly at Louie G's

Aaron played last night with Chrome Molly. It was perfect because it was at a pizzeria so everyone got to come - all our little under 21 year olds ;o). Couple more years and it wont matter any more!

Aaron is still not the official guitar player (songs to learn and stuff still), but it was good for him to wet his feet with the band a bit. We were sitting right in front of the speakers, so we all had to wear ear plugs all night, but it's all good.

Unfortunately we had to leave as soon as Aaron was done playing in the fist set. We had to get up super early the next morning to take Jess to Central for her open house. 

I was having a really hard time taking pictures because the lighting kept changing every couple of seconds.... and, I'm still just a noob.... but I'll get there. Just got to keep practicing and researching ;o)

Happy Birthday Aaron

We kind of spread out Aaron's birthday festivities throughout the week this year. Last Friday was the only day that everyone, with their significant others, was available, so we had his party that night. We each adorned him with gifts, had homemade pizza and watched a movie. Last night, on his actual birthday, just he and I went out for dinner. It was nice to slow down for a couple of hours and just be together. We don't go out like that very often, so I think we both enjoyed it a lot.

We had a retirement/going away party for mom last night. We had a pretty good turnout and I think she had a good time. Thanks to everyone who came!

 

Day 1 - Friday, March 18th

It's getting to that time in our lives - our last little chick-a-dee is flying to coop soon. As per tradition, she gets a big senior vacation. We have been saving for 4 years for this trip, and it finally got here. 

Jeff decided he couldn't afford to come, so we invited Alex to take Jeff's place. It was so much fun! I am so missing the sunshine and warmth more than anything else. I definitely need to retire somewhere else; I'm a lizard and need my heat.

It has taken me a week to get to blogging our trip, and all day to get all of the posts up - there is a lot of pictures and information!! But, here it is.... enjoy!

When I went for my morning run on the beach I took my camera with me, ya never know what you are going to see. I'm glad I did. There are a ton of fishermen along the coast just casting out. This heron was hanging out like a dog at the dinner table, begging for food. It was quite funny.

 

We had this great patio to eat breakfast on in the morning. A big, yummy, breakfast in front of a waterfall. Very nice. Now it's time to take off and go to the ship.... yea!
