TOO HOT!

We have had record temperatures this year. In the winter we had record lows and now we are hitting the highs. For the last week the temp has been in the 90's. Last night was a record "low" with the temperature never getting below 70 degrees and by the time Jess and I went swimming this morning at 8:30 it was already 85 degrees.

Today is also the first time in Seattle history that the weather prediction is over 100 degrees. Right now, at 1:30 the "official" temperature is 99 degrees (I think they test at Seatac), but it is well over 100 in many of the outlying areas. Driving in our car a bit ago it registered 105! Even with the AC on we were sweating in our seats.

We have done desperate things to stay cool. With the humidity it seems even hotter, and boy do you sweat. We have gone to several movies (Wolverine at the $3 theater tonight!), ran through the sprinkler, gone swimming, cold showers, and Jeff even tried freezing his sheets before climbing into bed. They only stayed cool for a minute, and then all bets off. He fell asleep with cold packs on his bod. Funny guy!

Goodby Hamblins!

The Hamblins left our house this morning. It was a sad day! We really hung out for a long time this summer so it is going to be super quiet and lonely without them. I guess it's time to get back to life and catch up on all of the stuff I have been neglecting for the past month.

Rockin' with Guitar Hero

Amy donated her hair to locks of love and decided to do a pink streak in her hair. Marylinn wanted one too, so they sported matching pink all vacation.

Tyler wanted color too - Blue was his color of choice.

Jess got a new bookshelf from the Hamblins as payment for all the babysitting she did. Scott helped her put it together and get it situated in between the other two bookshelves she already had. She sure loves her room!

Firepit Inauguration

Aaron got a fire pit table for Father's Day this year. Because we have been so busy lately with races and vacationing and everything we haven't had a chance to use it yet. Last night we had it's inaugural lighting. It was way fun to sit around the fire and eat 'smores, talk and laugh all night. We had a blast. I have a feeling we are going to use it a lot this summer.

Spiro's and Music Couples Night

We had a super fun couples night last night. Jess was great to volunteer to watch the kids so we could get out for a little while. The first place we took everyone was to the Greek restaurant "Spiro's". Great food and entertainment. Everyone loved it and we totally enjoyed just chilling and being together. We were there for a couple hours.

We went from there to initiate Amy into the night life and took her to her first bar ever. We had a friend that was playing in the band that night and there was no cover so it was perfect. She was a little nervous at first but once she realized that most people in there were just normal people, she was just fine. My camera ran out of batteries though, so I didn't get any pics of the bar. Lots at the restaurant though.

Lake Wilderness

Temperatures reached into the 90's today, so what better thing to do than to hang out at the beach. We packed up and all headed over to Lake Wilderness for the day.

Man Hike

This was the epic manhike of 2009. Jeff, Aaron, and Scott ascended Silver Peak, which is near Hyak on Snoqualmie Pass. After making base camp in North Bend, the three intrepid explorers ascended the peak in just under 2 hours. After pausing near the top to take in the view, document with photographs, and feed the voracious bugs, the three of us descended to base camp for cheesebrugers and french-fries.

Denny Creek Water Slides

We took the kids up to Denny Creek Water Slides today. It's a super fun, short hike with a fun place to play in the river. I think they really had a blast
