We had an awesome Sunday hike today and left semi early this morning so that Jeff could come with us before he had to go to work tonight. Jess didn't come though. She said she was tired and had a headache so she stayed behind. It is very rare that all four of us have time, or desire all at the same time. But, alas, we still had a ton of fun without her.
We took off for Summit Lake by Mt. Rainier. We had been in that area hiking before but had never been to the Lake. So amazing!

A huge rock in the middle of the road on the way up the mountain. Good luck guys! I think it's there for a reason, too big to move. (Ironically it was gone on the way back down. There must have been someone stronger behind us :o)

We were so hot and sweaty, and the lake so inviting that we just couldn't resist. Off came the shoes, socks and shirts and in we went. It was cold, but so refreshing. And so clear and blue. It was so beautiful. Jeff said it was like swimming in freezing Windex. Dork! :o)
We will definitely head back to this lake in the future! We will have to go some time when we have more time and don't have to rush off for Jeff to go to work.
Jeff want's to make it a guy backpacking trip and spend the night. The boys would have a ton of fun up there. I would be jealous, because I would have a ton of fun too.

What? We do have lakes here. Bear Lake, Bloomington Lake, Tony's grove, Willard Bay, Utah Lake. We have 5 reservoiurs just in Preston and Oneida reserviour. I've heard Pocupine dam out by paradise is beautiful. Then there's Jackson Lake and Jenny Lake, Yellowstone Lake, Island Park and Hyrum Dam. See? It's not all bad. Although yes, Washington is very beautiful!!
Amy, we drove over 90 minutes and hiked 5 miles to get to this lake. sometimes having the great experiences take effort and aren't just around the corner, but they are SO worth it!
Hey don't pick on me!!! Oh, and by the way a reservoiur doesn't not classify as a lake!!! and half those lakes you mention are not in Utah and are more than 2 hours away. However, I do see your point about sometimes driving is worth it but...sometimes not when you have to sit in a car with Marylinn and Scott going 90 miles an hour with their stories...just kidding about that part...sometimes! hehehehe Oh, and I wouldn't swim in any of those Utah lakes you mentioned because of salt or just pure nasty!
